On the on February 8th the administration decided to switch to a faster and cheaper server that was designed to improve the experience of the Roleplay 2 Community. On February 13th once the server transfer was completed, we noticed a bug where the server was rejecting download requests for updates. We quickly responded and was trying very hard to figure out the issue behind it. On February 19th we discovered the domain was redirecting all downloads from http://* to http://www. causing the client to not understand the request and downloading a "301 document moved" html file. This affected all services global roleplay 2 or not.

I am glad to announce that this issue has been resolved and is lifting all outages on the server.

It appears late last night I was running a few stress test on the network because it seemed a large amount of traffic was hitting the HTTd server (80) and wanted to see if that would slow down the network. So i switched off the webserver apache and never switched it back on since last night.

Well, there's not much to say after that but, my bad.

So ill leave you to that.

 New Traffic AI

I spent this weekend making a simple traffic AI (simpler than the current) it’s like Nopol’s; the cars will stop and honk at each other if they were going to collide head on. So far, they have passed all tests, they have yet to run into another vehicle before their rage timer expires. In addition, if you kill a vehicle, or steal a vehicle its passengers will get out. The passengers are civilians, cops, military, mafia, and militia depending on the vehicle, and they will attack you if they have weapons to do so with.

 Industrial Buisness area

This is for a new area which will connect around the shoreline near the police department. It will be all industrial area consisting mostly of warehouses and other small industries.

This building isn't completely done yet, and i still have to model the sidewalk and road section which will be right beside it, as well as other structures lining the area. Textures won't be started until i have all the models done and the terrain surrounding them also, in the meantime i will update this post with new buildings, as they are completed. cool.gif

 Terrain updates affecting South & North Shoreline

In addition, I added a tunnel system that runs under the mainland, going from the South Beach, to the interstate, then to the North Beach...

There big empty area will have two big empty warehouses on it when Blazea gets them done that players will be able to walk/drive in, should be fun for combat.

Stairwells have LOD at 200~ meters so you should not have to worry about bad frame rates being caused from them.

 New Apartment Complex Lot

I noticed Jerad was busy trying to fill in the empty lots within Rp2, so i figured i would build some more stuff so we don't have to keep cloning old models from 2002.

This apartment complex has no interior sections and will just serve as a filler structure. The speed bumps however unrealistic the size is, have to be enlarged so they don't cause vehicles to get stuck on them. Texture variations may change later.

 Terrain Updates

So I've been adding some more buildings to the map, mostly duplicates of other preexisting buildings beings I don't really have Blazea's talent for making good designed structures from scratch. First thing I did was make it so the motel didn't look so isolated out in the middle of the desert like it was previously.

Next I added in an old building that was either never placed or once removed from the map, to those empty concrete slabs up by the movie theater.

I've been annoyed by the fact there is no road running up to the crane on the shoreline, so I added a road that goes up that hill and down to the crane.

Finally I figured I might as well put down some buildings in that empty area near the pay-n-spray by the racetrack map.

I've been doing a lot of work on the maps code as well, but I'll discuss that at a later time when it’s more complete.

 Vehicle Reskins

I spent some time yesterday adding some alt textures in for one of ECW's older cars, the Nissan Primera. I figure this gives the player more choice into how they play the game, even if it is just a simple recolor.

I also added an alt skin for the GT4; however, I only did one for this one because it was a real bitch.

Both of these vehicles have all their options purchasable from their new Multi PTs. And of course, the old silver Primera and white GT4 are still available if you happen to dislike all the re-colors.
